In the AFC Championship game played at Arrowhead stadium against the Buffalo Bills, wide receiver Tyreek Hill set a new Chiefs franchise record for receiving yards in a postseason game. Hill had 172 yards on 9 receptions.

The Chiefs website pointed out that the receiving yards record was just the cherry on top of a special performance from Hill in this game.

Hill picked up 71 yards on one play. According to this Next Gen Stats tweet, Hill reached a top speed of 20.76 MPH on this play, which was his 12th play for the season where Hill ran over 20 MPH–most in the NFL.

Hill gained 65 yards after his catch, +55 over expected, the 4th-most YACOE on a play this season.

Next Gen Stats also pointed out in the tweet that on four of Hill’s targets, he ran In-Breaking Routes, making all four receptions for 122 yards (94 YAC).

Hill was targeted by Mahomes on five other plays, and Hill converted four of those passes into receptions for another 38 yards (18 YAC).

Also, Hill’s performance racking up 172 yards receiving on January 24, 2021 was the most receiving yards gained by any single player in a single postseason game since 2016.

One thing is clear: this isn’t the last Chiefs postseason record Tyreek Hill will break. He continues to show that he is truly the top wide receiver in the NFL today. Hill’s ability to make big plays the past two postseasons have greatly contributed to the Kansas City Chiefs current success, as they now prepare to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl LV this Sunday.

Can’t Wait.
